Home made Paneer (Cottage cheese)

This is one recipe I follow very frequently at home, making paneer at home gives me peace of mind for the quality of paneer and also home made paneer tastes better than the regular market one.

Try this out and let me know how was it, specially if you tried it for the first time.

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 10-15 minutes

Ingredients
  1. Milk - 1.5 ltr
  2. Lemon- 1.5
Method
  • Squeeze lemon juice into a small bowl, should not have lemon seeds.
  • Put milk for boil.
  • Once milk is boiled, keep gas on low flame.
  • Add lemon juice to milk while stirring with a spoon. Milk will start getting separated into cheese and water, watery part should look little greenish which confirms milk has separated well.
  • Boil for 2-3 minutes, strain paneer into a strainer.
 

  • Collect paneer together so as to form a block of paneer and let it strain for 5-7 minutes.
  • You can keep it wrapped in a wet cloth for later use or cut into pieces and use directly. I will soon be posting my recipe for palak paneer using paneer preparation from this recipe :) stay tuned..


Tips: Try a cube of paneer with some regular salt, you will love the freshness of the same :)
